Johannesburg, South Africa
Leg two of the trip. The 11 hour flight is hard but I am getting more exciting about getting closer to home. Next stop is Frankfurt, Germany.

I'm Sharon Youmans, PharmD, MPH, faculty member in the UCSF School of Pharmacy. This is my story of an extended research project that centers on The Republic of Malawi in southeast Africa. I'm learning how religious groups and traditional healers work to help people with HIV/AIDS and identifying any barriers that Malawians living with HIV/AIDS experience in treatment and care. Malawi is one of Africa's poorest countries. 900,000 of Malawi's 13.6 million population are living with HIV/AIDS.
